Sample Success Story: Asylum Continued Through Our Representation After Termination Interview

On May 20, 2011, the USCIS Asylum Office sent a Notice of Continuation of Asylum Status to Lin & Valdez LLP as a result of an interview in the asylum office on May 16, 2011.

This case involves an extremely unique situation and pressure almost unbearable to our client.  Attorney Stewart Lin stepped into this case last month, and saved the status of the client and his families.

In 2001, the client retained an attorney and through the law office of that attorney filed an asylum application on religious ground.  After interview, the asylum petition was granted.  Nevertheless, that office was later found by the ICE for filing over 70 boiler-plate religious asylum petitions.  Since then, the attorney has been disbarred and convicted.  Cases of that office, including that of this client, was suspended by the USCIS for adjustment of status and called back for investigation.  In March of this year, this client received Notice of Intent to Terminate Asylum Status from the USCIS. The shock to the client is beyond description.

Upon evaluating this matter, Attorney Stewart Lin believes that this client is a victim of the shoddy practice of the previous law firm.  He hence helped the client review his application of ten years ago, and asked client to prepare all documents related to his situation before and now.  Attorney Stewart Lin also accompanied the client and his families to the interview.  At the end of the interview, Attorney Lin pointed out to the interview officer the difference of the clients case from the other cases filed by that law firm.  The asylum office, as it turns out, was convinced.
